The Major

“No. Don’t say that.” The major said.
“The truth is that it doesn’t matter what you do. All the arrests, all the weapons you took off the str—”
“I don’t want to hear that.” The major bolted from the command sergeant major.
The command sergeant major chased the major —grabbed her, and reeled her into his arms. “And it doesn’t matter, that you left your family behind to here.”
.” The heat of the major’s pant steamed hotly on the command sergeant major’s chest and he continued. “You will never be one of them.”
“I need to believe,” Tears salted the major’s cheeks. “that all my hard work will be rewarded.”
